Virginia Tech earned a B- on the Sustainable Endowments Institute’s Campus Sustainability Report Card, up a full letter grade from last year’s C-. Grades in some of the categories include: Administration Climate Change and Energy Food and Recycling Student Involvement Investment Priorities Got a blog or a website? A few minutes ago I added a bunch of events to the event calendar for Wednesday, 10/22. One of those is especially exciting: Event: SCUP Campus Sustainability Day Webcast The Sustainability Week event calendar — admittedly a work in progress — is now online. We’ll fill in details as we get ‘em. We’re using Twitter to promote Sustainability Week. Follow sustainweekva for all the news fit to tweet! Anthony Flaccavento, the Executive Director of Appalachian Sustainable Development, will give Sustainability Week’s keynote speech at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22 in the Dominion Ballroom of Virginia Tech’s Squires Student Center. A reception will follow at the Blacksburg Farmers Market. Exhibits displayed throughout Squires by 25+ groups: non-profit, student, campus and community organizations. Exhibitors will also include architectural/enginnering firms and contractors currently doing business at Virginia Tech. A series of presentations will be given throughout the day to highlight sustainable building initiatives taking place at Virginia Tech.
